A Wedding in Four Parts

As a budding writer, I read…a lot.  I used to just read…a lot. Now I have an excuse, my reading is now research.  Not that I really need an excuse, but sometimes, when I feel guilty that dinner is not on the table or the washing has been forgotten and is still in the washing machine hours after the cycle finished, it is handy to have it.

It may come as no surprise to you that I love to read, but even more than that, I love to read series.  I have separation issues…I find it hard to let go of a character once I have bonded with them. One of the check boxes on my mental ‘why should I buy this book’ list is ‘Is it part of a Series?’. If the answer is yes, then I am more inclined to buy the book…weird, I know.

I also have trouble letting go of an author that I like and am more likely to troll bookstores looking for a book by a familiar author than risk trying a new one.  Being a new author myself, this is kind of ironic.

So I have recently discovered a series that not only ticks my boxes, but also opens me up to new authors.  The Promise Harbour Wedding series is four books written by four different authors about the same wedding.

I know this may not be a new concept, but it is new to me.  I have only read one other series like this (Seekers Island), and I think that this actually does it better.  These four books tell the story of the same wedding but from different points of view. It has familiar characters, a familiar setting but different story arcs and the final book, apart from telling its own story, also ties the entire series together.  I have to say, I really enjoyed it.

Each book is written well and has its own flavour (due to the individual authors) and each book adds another layer to the overall story.  But the thing I liked most about it was that the parts that overlapped, matched seamlessly.  This wasn’t done as well in the Seekers Island books I read. (I did enjoy the Seekers Island books, honest, just not as much as these)

As you know by one of my previous posts, I do judge books by their covers and I particularly liked these. It was their covers and one of the authors that originally caught my eye, but I really liked the premise.  Four different points of view with four different fallouts…what’s not to like?

So, if you enjoy a good, steamy romance and are in need of some suggestions for new authors, or maybe you need to do some research, why not check out the Promise Harbour Wedding series.
