I can’t believe it’s January 2019 already!
Where did 2018 go?
I don’t know about you, but I’m keen to get into A Year of Reading Dangerously!
This month’s theme is ‘Relationship Resolutions.’
I figured with the new year and everyone making New Year’s Resolutions that it would be a cool trope to read. The difference is that these books aren’t necessarily about a New Year Resolution, but a relationship resolution. In other words, our intrepid heroine or hero have decided to swear off relationships, go on a relationship detox, or maybe they’ve decided they don’t even need a partner to feel complete.
Of course fate has other plans for them 😍
Below are just some of the books that fit this trope. I have to say, it was a hard theme to find books for, but I think I’ve gathered a pretty good selection. I would have liked to have found more Historical Romances and maybe a couple of Paranormals, but, alas, I didn’t have much luck. If you have some suggestions, add them in the comments below or post it on the Facebook Page
I have read a couple of these books already, but not all of them…I intend to be reading along with you 😊
So here we go…
The Boyfriend Sessions
By Belinda Williams
PLEASE TAKE YOUR SEATS. THE JOURNEY TO HAPPINESS MAY INVOLVE SOME TURBULENCE.
Christa Morrison has commitment issues, a fact that quickly becomes apparent after she flees a romantic proposal in Paris, the thunder of impending wedding bells ringing in her ears.
Back in Sydney, she turns to her closest friends for reassurance. Instead they offer her a startling and painful diagnosis: she’s a relationship junkie. The cure? An extreme rehabilitation program guaranteed to reform even the most L-word illiterate. With her girlfriends along for the ride, Christa commits to their radical plan and the chances of recovery look good.
The only problem is Max Spencer. The one guy Christa—and her friends—never expected her to fall for. But he’s proving to be a temptation she may not have the willpower to resist…
For a shot at happiness, is being with Max worth betraying her friends? And will Christa have the strength to trust her heart when her colorful relationship history comes back to haunt her?
It might just be enough to make a poor girl leave the country (again).
Caught by You
by Jennifer Bernard
Months of alternately flirting and bickering with Kilby Catfish catcher Mike Solo just turned into the hottest kiss of Donna MacIntyre’s life—and that’s a major league complication.
Any hint of scandal could keep her from getting her son back from her well-connected ex. Then Mike comes up with a game-changing idea: a marriage proposal that could help win her case— even as it jeopardizes her heart…
Mike hasn’t been able to get the gorgeous, gutsy redhead out of his fantasies. The least he can do is fix the mess he helped create. Yet their engagement is quickly becoming about a lot more than doing the right thing.
Because after swearing he’d never risk love again, Mike has found a passion that puts all his emotions in play, and a woman he’ll go to bat for again and again.
Bet Me
by Lila Monroe
A hot & hilarious STANDALONE romantic comedy for fans of Sophie Kinsella, Lauren Blakely, and Julia Kent!
“The only thing more humiliating than a guy falling asleep face-down in my crotch would be if he died there… Oh my god, is he DEAD?”
All I wanted was little old-fashioned romance. After a parade of Tinder disasters who think chivalry is giving me a pearl necklace on the first date, I made a pledge: until guys step up their game, this girl is off the market. But one bottle of chardonnay later, and my drunken rant has gone viral. I’m the most famous person NOT having sex since the Jonas Brothers put on their purity rings.
A men’s magazine has even put a bounty on my (ahem) maidenhead: fifty Gs to whoever makes me break the drought.
Be careful what you wish for…
Now my office looks like an explosion in a Hallmark factory, I’ve got guys lining up to sweep me off my feet – and the one man I want is most definitely off-limits.
Jake Weston is a player through and through. He’s also the only one who sees through the mayhem to the real me, but how can I trust he’s not just out to claim the glory?
And how will I make it through the strike without scratching the itch – especially when that itch looks so damn good out of his suit?
To Catch a Spinster
by Megan Bryce
Olivia Blakesley, self-proclaimed spinster extraordinaire, is quite happy with her life. She has her studies and her duties, what need does she have of a husband?
With five sisters married she knows the reality does not live up to the promise, and does not need to personally experiment with the state to know she would be ill-suited to it. However, she finds herself envious of at least one aspect of marriage.
But to experience the physical side of marriage, one doesn’t need a husband, all one needs is the right man…
Nathaniel Jenkins knows his duty. Marry a young girl from a respectable family and father an heir, no matter how cold the endless parade of suitable girls leaves him. But a shocking proposal from a scholarly spinster leaves him wondering if unsuitable is just what he’s looking for.
Can he convince his spinster that marriage is the greatest experiment of all?
Only You
by Denise Grover Swank
Romance isn’t an option for Holly Greenwood. With her wedding planner career on the line she needs to stay focused, and that means pleasing her demanding boss, not getting distracted by her mind-alteringly hot neighbor . . .
Ex-Marine Kevin Vandemeer craves normalcy. Instead, he has a broken-down old house in need of a match and some gasoline, a meddling family, and the uncanny ability to attract the world’s craziest women. At least that last one he can fix: he and his buddies have made a pact to swear off women, and this includes his sweetly sexy new neighbor.
After one hot night that looks a whole lot like a disaster in the light of day, Kevin and Holly are about to learn that true love doesn’t play by the rules…
Underneath it All
by Kate Canterbary
Meet Lauren Halsted.
It’s all the little things–the action plans, the long-kept promises–that started falling apart when my life slipped into controlled chaos.
After I fell ass-over-elbow into Matthew Walsh’s arms.
Meet Matthew Walsh.
A rebellious streak ran through Lauren Halsted. It was fierce and unrelentingly beautiful, and woven through too many good girl layers to count, and she wasn’t letting anyone tell her what to do.
Unless, of course, she was naked.
In Like Flynn
by Emma Lea
Alcohol, getting dumped and a smart phone were not a good mix.
Peyton Sheppard thought her world was just weeks away from being perfect. The future she had always dreamed about was within her grasp – the perfect guy, the perfect wedding, the perfect house in the suburbs. That was until her fiancé ran off and married a Las Vegas showgirl.
To say she was a bit miffed was perhaps an understatement. Still, an ill-advised video uploaded to Facebook shouldn’t have meant the end of her life as she knew it.
Flynn Devereaux loved his life just the way it was, thank you very much. He was not at all impressed when his editor insisted he do a blog series on the woman whose meltdown went viral. The absolute last thing he needed – or wanted – was to try and get her to fall in love with him because of some ridiculous bet made on national television. But what was a guy to do? A challenge was a challenge and maybe he could limit the humiliation that was sure to follow both of them during the fallout of said challenge.
He didn’t believe in love or happily-ever-after and she was done with the whole husband, marriage, white picket fence thing so there was no chance of either of them falling in love…
